Thank you for your interest in the Library Instruction Leadership Academy (LILAC). To be considered for admission into the academy, we require a three-part application.


    • Application form – this one-page form will provide your contact information and background. This form will allow you to choose your preferred location and date for the in-person foundational workshop.

Wed, Aug 13 – Empire State College (Saratoga Springs)
Thurs, Aug 14 – Southeastern NY Library Resources Council (Highland)
Tues, Aug 19 – Rochester Regional Library Council (Rochester)
Wed, Aug 20 – South Central Regional Library Council (Ithaca)


    • Essay – the essay should be no more than one page, single-spaced, 12-point font with 1 inch margins. Please write an essay that addresses the following:a) how your participation in the academy relates to your current employment and professional goals


      b) how you will actively participate in the academy’s endeavors


      c) how you will share what you have learned with other librarians and educators


    • Letter of reference – the letter should be from your library director (or advisor/professor for students), mention your name and library at the beginning, and address:a) support for your participation and attendance in the academy, especially for the scheduled in-person workshop


      b) how your participation in the academy will benefit your library/education


  • CostUpon acceptance, LILAC participants will be asked to pay a $100 registration fee to cover costs of the academy. Successful candidates will receive more details upon notification of acceptance.
